Last night was Game 1 of the 2015 World Series between the New York Mets and the Kansas City Royals. It was played in Kansas City in front of a sellout crowd. The Royals won the game 5-4 in 14 innings and it was exciting the entire time. The best story of the night in my opinion was Royals' starting pitcher Edison Volquez. On his way to the field to get ready for the game, he found out that his dad had died earlier that day in the Dominican Republic. He was sad but he decided he should still pitch and honor his dad. He threw 6 innings, allowed 6 hits and 3 runs and did a good job of keeping the Royals in the game and giving them a good chance to win. Game 2 is tonight!! Gotta love October baseball.

Research Project (Insert Clever Title Here)
We started working on our research projects today. The first step is finding a question to ask that can be researched and written about... that's the tough part. I'm going to research why divorce rates were so much lower in the mid-1900's than they are right now, even though couples then were facing difficult challenges just like couples now. I'm going to talk about my grandparents and their marriage through some of the difficulties they've faced now that they've been married for 65 years.

General Conference October 2015
This last weekend was the Fall session of General Conference. I went Saturday morning and it was pretty sick. I liked Ronald A. Rasband's talk, I Stand All Amazed. He talked about when the first presidency had called him into a meeting and asked him to be an apostle and all of the emotions he felt when that happened. He said: "I am overwhelmed and shaken to my very core..." He was really impressed when President Monson told him that the call had come from Jesus Christ.
Then he talked about his wife and everything that she had helped him with and done to help him be put in the place he was in, and how she had kept him going at times he didn't want to continue. He also gave credit to a multigenerational LDS family and for all of the good things that he learned because of that.
His biggest message was what he ended with: "Love one another as Jesus loved you." He said that he is confident there is no sin or choice that would prevent the Lord from loving you anymore. His message was that we should reach out to everyone and invite them to come back to God because we would hope someone would do the same for us.
